Ceramic Coating in Johns Creek

Johns Creek was built into mature hardwood, and the trees are what a coating there has to deal with. Sap, pollen and bird droppings land on the same panels, night after night.

Johns Creek

A coating for the canopy

The subdivisions off Medlock Bridge, State Bridge and McGinnis Ferry roads sit on large, wooded lots. Plenty of households run more cars than the garage holds, so at least one lives in the driveway under the trees. That car takes sap, pollen and bird droppings on the roof, hood and trunk lid continuously.

Those contaminants are acidic, and on a warm panel they start etching the clear coat within hours. This is the job chemical resistance is for. A coated panel gives you time to rinse the mess off before it bites, and the slick surface means much of it never bonds in the first place.

For a car that sleeps outside under canopy, we usually recommend the 5-year coating, because it is rated for stronger chemical resistance. A car that is garaged and only occasionally parked under trees can do well on the 18-month coating.

What we recommend

Looking after a coated car under the trees

A coating changes how a canopy car should be washed. Rinse first, every time, so pollen and grit leave the panel before a mitt touches it, and use a pH-neutral shampoo, since strong cleaners shorten a coating's life.

Clean bird droppings and sap with a quick detailer and a clean microfiber the day they land, especially on the roof and hood, where the trees drop most. Once or twice a year, an iron decontamination wash clears the fallout that dulls water beading. Owners often mistake that dullness for a failed coating when the coating underneath is fine.

On a Johns Creek car, the roof and trunk lid deserve particular attention. They are the panels the trees hit hardest and the ones a driveway wash misses, because they are hard to see and harder to reach.

Getting here

Spring, and the drive in

Georgia pollen season is heavy, and in Johns Creek the yellow layer arrives daily for weeks. Pollen is mildly abrasive and turns acidic once wet, so wiping it off a dry panel is the most common way owners swirl their own paint in March. A coated car rinses clean with water, which removes the temptation.

Johns Creek is the simplest drive we have: down 141, onto Peachtree Industrial and into the studio, about twenty minutes with no interstate. Most owners drive in and drop off. The coating cures indoors before handover, and the return date is confirmed at inspection.

Questions

Johns Creek questions

It slows it down and makes sap far easier to remove, which is what prevents etching in practice. It will not make the paint immune: sap or droppings left on a hot panel for days can still etch through a coating. Remove them promptly.

Usually Gtechniq CSL, our 5-year coating, for its stronger chemical resistance against sap, pollen and droppings. If the car is garaged most nights, Gtechniq EXO, the 18-month coating, is often enough. We confirm at inspection.

Yes. It is about 20 minutes down 141 and Peachtree Industrial with no interstate. Most owners drive in, drop off, and collect once the coating has cured.
