Johns Creek

Fast roads without a highway

No interstate runs through Johns Creek. Its main roads, Medlock Bridge, State Bridge, McGinnis Ferry and Abbotts Bridge, are wide, fast suburban roads with long stretches between lights, and they carry landscaping trucks and construction traffic through the day. Gravel and debris thrown up from those trucks hit the bumper and hood at speed.

The highway miles come from leaving. Commutes run west to 400 or south-east to 85, and either way the car spends time at 70 miles an hour behind other traffic. That is where most front-end chips are made, which is why the Front Clip is the usual starting point here.

What we recommend

How much film a Johns Creek car needs

Local driving on Medlock Bridge and State Bridge is Front Clip territory. A daily commute out to 400 or 85 starts with the Front Clip too, with the Track Pack added if chips show up on the lower doors. A weekend car for mountain roads or track days should have the Track Pack, or Full Body if you want the decision made once.

Film does not make a car immune to the canopy. Its self-healing top coat handles light marks, but sap and bird droppings still need cleaning off promptly. A ceramic coating over the film makes both easier to wash, and plenty of owners here pair the two: film on the front, coating over everything.

Getting here

Weekend drives and longer trips

Johns Creek households often keep a weekend car alongside the daily ones, and the drives those cars do are the kind that chip paint: north into the mountains on 400, or out to the track. For those, the Track Pack takes protection back along the sides and up the A-pillars.

Satin film is worth a mention here too. It turns a gloss car matte and protects it at the same time, and it is reversible. It should cover the whole car, so it is a Full Body choice rather than a front-only one.

The studio is about twenty minutes away, down 141 and Peachtree Industrial with no interstate, so the drive in is short and predictable. Collection is rarely needed from here; the hand-back date is agreed when we inspect the car.

Questions

Johns Creek questions

Yes. Rinse first so pollen and grit come off before a mitt touches the film, use a pH-neutral shampoo, and keep a pressure washer well back from film edges. Clean sap and droppings off promptly; the film’s top coat is tougher than paint, not immune.

Johns Creek's four-lane roads are fast enough to chip paint, especially behind trucks. If the car rarely leaves town, the Front Clip is usually enough. Highway commuters and weekend drivers benefit from the Track Pack.

Satin film gives a gloss car a matte finish and protects it. It is reversible, and it should be fitted as Full Body: $9,000, against $7,500 for gloss.
