Paint Protection Film in Buckhead

Buckhead driving is a mix of slow city streets and fast interstates on every side. The interstates chip the paint; the city adds scuffs and parking marks.

Buckhead

City streets, fast roads all round

Inside Buckhead, Peachtree Road and the streets around it are slow, stop-and-go driving that rarely chips paint. The fast roads are just outside: 400 runs straight through the middle of Buckhead, and 75, 85 and the Downtown Connector are minutes away. A car that uses them every day collects chips on the bumper, hood and mirrors like any commuter car.

The city adds its own marks. Tight deck spaces and valet stands mean door edges, bumper corners and the lower sides of the car get scuffed, and those are not panels the Front Clip covers. The Track Pack's door edges, door cups and rocker panels are as useful in a Buckhead deck as on a racetrack.

What we recommend

Coverage for how Buckhead cars are used

A daily driver on 400 or the Connector needs the Front Clip. A car that is valeted or parked in tight decks is better with the Track Pack, for the door edges, door cups and rockers. An exotic, special-color or collector car is a Full Body car, in gloss to keep the factory look or satin for a reversible matte finish.

Whatever the coverage, tell us how the car is parked and driven. A car doing ten miles a week between a deck and dinner needs less film than one doing the 400 commute, even if they are the same model, and we would rather fit what the car needs than the largest package.

Getting here

Original paint on special cars

Buckhead has more than its share of cars where the paint is part of the value: exotics, special colors and collector cars kept in the residential streets off West Paces Ferry. On those, a repaint is something a buyer asks about. Film keeps the original finish original, and it can come off again.

For cars like that, Full Body is often the sensible choice, in gloss to keep the factory look or in satin for a matte finish that can be reversed later.

The studio is up Peachtree Road, which becomes Peachtree Industrial and runs past our door in Peachtree Corners: 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. The car stays while the film beds in, so plan on a drop-off, and ask about collection if you would rather not drive it.

Questions

Buckhead questions

The Front Clip handles highway chips. If the car is parked in tight decks or valeted, the Track Pack adds door edges, door cups and rocker panels, which take most of the scuffs.

The film takes the mark instead of the paint. Light scuffs in the top coat often level out with heat; a deep cut means replacing film on that panel, which is far simpler than repainting it.

On sound paint, no. Film is only as safe as the paint’s adhesion, so older and repainted finishes are inspected and measured before anything is fitted, and we say so if a finish is too fragile.
