GSWF PPF: The Film Range, Cost and Warranty, Explained
GSWF PPF explained by a GSWF Certified installer: Defender clear film, color PPF, GSWF vs XPEL, Atlanta pricing from $2,750, and how the warranty works.

GSWF is the paint protection film brand more Atlanta drivers are starting to ask about by name, usually after seeing its color PPF on a car at a meet. This guide covers what GSWF film actually is, every product in the range, how it compares with XPEL, what it costs to have fitted in Atlanta, and how the warranty works. We are a GSWF Certified installer in Peachtree Corners, so everything below comes from fitting the film, not from a spec sheet.
TL;DR
- GSWF makes a full film range: Defender clear PPF, Infused Color PPF, Smoke light film, ImpacVue windshield film and Night Shade ceramic window tint.
- Clear GSWF PPF comes in gloss, satin and matte, with a self-healing top coat that levels light marks with heat.
- Infused Color PPF changes the color of the car and protects the paint at the same time. GSWF warrants it for up to 10 years.
- At our studio, GSWF clear PPF starts at $2,750 for a Front Clip in gloss film. Color film and tint are quoted for the car.
- The film is only as good as the install. Choose a GSWF Certified installer and get the warranty terms in writing.

What is GSWF film?
GSWF is a manufacturer of paint protection film, color protection film, specialty light and windshield film, and window tint, sold through a network of trained installers. Its clear film line is called Defender. Its color line is Infused Color PPF, a protection film with the color built into it rather than a vinyl wrap.
Paint protection film, or PPF, is a clear or colored urethane film applied to painted panels. It takes the stone chips, light scratches and road debris that would otherwise reach the paint. A self-healing top coat lets light swirl marks in the film flatten out again with heat from the sun or warm water.
What sets GSWF apart is breadth. Most drivers who come to us for GSWF want one of three things: clear film that keeps the factory look, a color change that also protects, or a smoked look on the lights. GSWF covers all three from one manufacturer.
The GSWF film range, explained
| GSWF product | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Defender clear PPF | Self-healing clear protection film in gloss, satin and matte | Keeping the factory color while stopping chips |
| Infused Color PPF | Protection film with the color built in, in gloss and satin | Changing the color of the car without a vinyl wrap |
| Smoke light film | Tinted protection film for headlights and taillights in 30, 50 and 70 percent shades | A smoked look that also takes chips |
| ImpacVue windshield film | Optically clear film on the outside of the windshield | Rock chips and cracks on highway-driven cars |
| Night Shade window tint | GSWF's ceramic window tint | Heat rejection, privacy and UV protection |
Defender clear PPF
Defender is the GSWF film most people mean when they search for GSWF PPF. GSWF offers several Defender variants, including Platinum Pro, Platinum, Ultra, Hydro, Max, Satin, Matte and Arctic Flex. They differ in top-coat chemistry, thickness and adhesive. We choose the variant against the car, the finish you want and how the car is driven, rather than selling one film to everyone.
Gloss Defender keeps the paint looking as it left the factory. Satin and matte Defender change the finish: satin gives a soft, low-sheen look over gloss paint, and matte film protects factory matte paint without adding shine.
Infused Color PPF
GSWF's color film is the part of the range drawing the most attention. It is protection film, not vinyl. That means it is thicker than a wrap and made to take the same stone chips that clear film does, while changing the color of the car. GSWF offers dozens of colors in gloss and satin, and warrants Infused Color PPF for up to 10 years on GSWF's terms.
Smoke, ImpacVue and Night Shade
Smoke film tints headlights and taillights while protecting the lens. ImpacVue protects the windshield from chips without changing the view through the glass. Night Shade is GSWF's ceramic window tint, which matters through a Georgia summer. Pairing these with clear or color PPF lets a car be protected, restyled and tinted in a single visit.
GSWF vs XPEL: which film should you choose?
Both make self-healing clear protection film, and we are certified on both. The honest answer is that the installer and the coverage plan matter more than the logo on the roll.
| Question | GSWF | XPEL |
|---|---|---|
| Clear self-healing PPF | Yes, Defender, in gloss, satin and matte | Yes, in gloss and satin |
| Color protection film | Infused Color PPF, dozens of colors | Check XPEL's current range for your market |
| Light film and window tint | Smoke light film and Night Shade tint | XPEL also makes window tint |
| Reputation | Growing fast with installers and enthusiasts | The established name in clear film |
| Warranty | GSWF's own terms, by film | XPEL's own terms, by film |
Choose XPEL when you want the longest-established name in clear film. Choose GSWF when you want a wide choice of color film, smoked lights and tint from one manufacturer, or a specific Defender variant suits your car. We recommend one against the car and how it is used, and we will tell you if the other film is the better fit.
See our XPEL certified installer page for the XPEL side of the comparison.
Is color PPF better than a vinyl wrap?
For protection, yes. Vinyl is thin and mostly decorative. It changes the color but does little against a stone. GSWF Infused Color PPF is a thicker protection film with the color built in, so it changes the look and protects the paint at the same time.
It costs more than vinyl for that reason. The trade is simple: vinyl is a styling product, color PPF is a protection product that also restyles the car. If the car is valuable or driven on the highway, the protection is usually worth the difference.
How much does GSWF PPF cost in Atlanta?
GSWF clear film is priced by coverage. These are our prices in Peachtree Corners, the same figures as our online shop:
| Coverage | What is covered | Gloss film | Satin film |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front Clip | Full front bumper, full hood, full front fenders, side mirrors and headlights | $2,750 | $3,300 |
| Track Pack | Everything in the Front Clip, plus rocker panels, A-pillars, roofline edge, door edges, door cups and rear impact areas | $3,900 | $4,680 |
| Full Body | Every painted panel | $7,500 | $9,000 |
| Windshield film | Optically clear film on the outside of the windshield | $450 | n/a |
Infused Color PPF, smoked light film and Night Shade tint are quoted for the car, because the price depends on the color, the coverage and the glass. Any paint correction the car needs before film goes on is quoted after inspection.
What changes the price:
- Coverage. A Front Clip and a full body are different jobs.
- Finish. Satin and matte film cost more than gloss.
- Vehicle complexity. Aggressive aero, vents and tight body lines take more time to wrap cleanly.
- Paint condition. Film holds whatever is beneath it for years, so swirls are corrected first.

How does the GSWF warranty work?
GSWF film carries GSWF's own warranty against film defects, on GSWF's terms. Infused Color PPF is warranted for up to 10 years. Terms differ between films and can include registration and care requirements, and GSWF runs a dedicated warranty portal for registered installs.
Three things to confirm before you book any GSWF install:
- Which exact film is going on the car. "GSWF" is a brand, not a product. The warranty follows the specific film.
- Who registers the warranty. A certified installer registers the install with GSWF.
- What care keeps it valid. Ask for the care requirements in writing at handover.
We give the exact warranty terms for the film on your car in writing with your quote.
Why the installer matters more than the film
Most film failures are installation failures: lifting edges, trapped dust, stretch marks and visible seams. GSWF certification is training on how GSWF film is prepared for and installed, from decontaminating the panel to wrapping edges without lift lines.
At Cheval Noir Motorsports, the process is the same on every car:
- Inspection under lights, with depth readings where correction may be needed.
- Decontamination of every panel the film will cover.
- Correction where the paint needs it, quoted before work starts.
- Installation in a private studio, with edges wrapped where the panel allows.
- Cure and inspection before handover, with written care instructions.
How to care for GSWF paint protection film
- Hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo and a clean mitt.
- Keep pressure washer nozzles back from film edges.
- Let the self-healing top coat work: sun or warm water levels light marks.
- Avoid abrasive polishes and harsh solvents on the film.
- Treat matte and satin film with matte-safe products only.
- Consider a ceramic coating over the film for easier washing. See our ceramic coating packages.
FAQ
What does GSWF stand for in car film?
GSWF is the brand name of the film manufacturer. Its products include Defender clear paint protection film, Infused Color PPF, Smoke light film, ImpacVue windshield film and Night Shade window tint.
Is GSWF PPF good?
Yes, when it is installed correctly. GSWF clear film is self-healing and comes in gloss, satin and matte, and its color film adds a range most brands do not offer. Installation quality decides how any film performs.
Is GSWF self-healing?
Yes. GSWF Defender clear film has a self-healing top coat that levels light marks with heat from the sun or warm water. Deep cuts and stone strikes through the film are not self-healing.
How long does GSWF PPF last?
Lifespan depends on the film, exposure and care. GSWF warrants Infused Color PPF for up to 10 years, and other films carry their own terms. We confirm the exact terms for your film in writing.
Can you ceramic coat over GSWF film?
Yes. Film takes the impacts and a compatible coating over paint and film makes the whole car easier to wash. See new car protection for film and coating in one visit.
